Working alongside our customers, Bright's engineering department is involved in virtually every step of our process.

Design and Engineering

The Bright Plastics design and engineering team is armed with the tools, talent and experience necessary to help you develop new product ideas, or solve a performance or quality problem with an existing product.

Bright D&E offers:

  • An industrial design department that can transform a rough concept into a final design
  • Patent research and filing
  • SOLIDWORKS® 3D CAD software
  • Material selection support (over 50 types of filled and unfilled materials – engineering and commodity grades)
  • Failure Element Analysis (FEA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) services available
  • Rapid prototype resources
  • In-house mold flow analysis
  • Relationships with quality domestic and off-shore tool shops
  • Extensive mold design experience
  • Mold build project management
  • Mold maintenance program (includes redesign of poor molds and tool rebuilds)
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) practices
  • Sampling on tool arrival with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and validation as required

 

Working alongside our customers, Bright’s engineering department is involved in virtually every step of our process. We put our customers in very qualified hands. Our team spent a lot of time in the classroom before joining us to apply their education to the injection molding industry. Staff degrees and certifications include:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Aerospace Engineering, United States Military Academy at West Point, 1989

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 1988

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, North Carolina State University, 1987; MBA, Western Carolina University, 1998

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Rochester Institute of Technology, 1983; Certified Journeyman Toolmaker

Our engineers work closely with the quality department to identify problems and address corrective action, if necessary. From design through production, the scrutiny and stability that engineering provides is the foundation for our success as a manufacturer of quality plastic products.
